Iglesia para la Fe Libre in Christo Escamequita
(or some variation thereof)
We wanted to help the community worship under a roof.
This was the ground breaking ceremony. They were
speechless when I showed up with a shovel (just try to find
gold spray paint or a red ribbon in San Juan del Sur!). It
took a lot of explaining but I finally got the tradition
explained. They still look at me oddly most of the time
anyway.
The dedication ceremony
was a real event for
them. Here is pastor
David Mejia,  and the
local Ministers
dedicating the
cornerstone of the
church.
Work got under way the next day. Nica
Dev provided the materials and the
community provided the labor in the
afternoons, night and weekends.

It took shape in no time.
Juan Acevedo cleaned up real nice.
Love the sticker. Juan is quite a
guitarist, always happy to play for you.
The ribbon cutting ceremony a few
months later. It's actually their
tradition.
A real church for the first
time in their long history.

The crowd filed in and took
their seats for the ceremony.

These two below (with dog)
we not staged.
The evening ended with a fantastic "Nica style " BBQ
(complete with Coca-Cola marinated calf) and a jam session.
I think it was "Stairway to Heaven", but that may have been later.
Juan Mejia
proudly tells the
congregation of
the plans while
the band gets
ready to play.
